Brazil: Vegetable and fruit prices continue to fall in wholesale markets, says Conab

The prices of most vegetables and fruits sold in Brazil's main wholesale markets have fallen again in the last month. According to the 8th Bulletin of the Brazilian Program for the Modernization of the Fruit and Vegetable Market (Prohort), released by the National Supply Company (Conab) this Friday (16), the price reduction was significant, reaching up to 47.69% in the case of carrots and 43.96% for tomatoes, when compared to the month of June. The Bulletin indicates that the drop in the price of carrots is due to the greater supply of the root in wholesale markets. The national supply of the product to the Ceasas analyzed increased by 8.9% in July, without a significant concentration in Minas Gerais. Tomatoes, which had a similar price reduction, saw their supply grow 13% compared to June, marking the highest volume recorded so far in 2024.
