The national 'vegetable basket' index in China decreased by 3.48 points in April compared to the previous month, and by 5.37 points from the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This is due to an increase in the vegetable field area and an increase in the supply of local vegetables, leading to a seasonal decline in vegetable prices. The average wholesale price of 28 types of vegetables monitored by the ministry fell by 6.9% from the previous month and 0.2% from the previous year. The supply of spring vegetables is expected to continue to increase, further driving down prices.
