On August 15, 2024, the Obour market stabilized vegetable prices with a slight increase of 3-7 pounds per kilo in retail markets. The prices ranged from 4 to 13 pounds per kilo for onions, 9 to 22 pounds for zucchini, 7 to 10 pounds for carrots, 25 to 31 pounds for beans, 4 to 7 pounds for local eggplant, 5 to 9 pounds for peppers, 12 to 14 pounds for local cucumbers, 6 to 10 pounds for local lemons, 20 to 24 pounds for taro, 4 to 5 pounds for molokhia, 35 to 60 pounds for garlic, and 30 to 45 pounds for okra. The Egyptian state is supporting farmers by providing soft loans, expanding agricultural greenhouses, and simplifying licensing procedures to aid in agricultural development and economic stability.
