On August 22, 2024, the Obour market stabilized vegetable prices with slight increases in retail markets. The price per kilo ranged from 10 to 15 pounds for tomatoes, 6 to 10 pounds for onions, 10 to 24 pounds for zucchini, 7 to 10 pounds for carrots, 25 to 33 pounds for beans, 6 to 6 pounds for local eggplant, 4 to 7 pounds for peppers, 12 to 14 pounds for local cucumbers, 6 to 10 pounds for local lemons, 20 to 24 pounds for taro, 4 to 5 pounds for molokhia, and 35 to 60 pounds for garlic. The Egyptian state is supporting farmers by providing soft loans, expanding greenhouses, and simplifying licensing procedures to aid in agricultural development and economic stability.
