In 2024, China continues to be the primary consumer of Vietnamese durians, accounting for 90% of the total export revenue, which experienced a 43% increase compared to the previous year, generating over 2.8 billion USD in 11 months. The durian export revenue for Vietnam surpassed 3.1 billion USD, marking a 44% increase from the year before. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association predicts that the fruit and vegetable export turnover will reach 7.1 billion USD, a 27% increase from the previous year, with durian contributing significantly to this growth. The industry expects further growth in 2025 due to China's plans to include more durian products in its market, which are expected to bring higher added value. Additionally, exports of other fruits like bananas, jackfruit, mangoes, and coconuts have seen increases of 20-400%, with China also opening its market for fresh Vietnamese coconuts and passion fruit to be exported to the US, signaling a positive outlook for the future of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports.
