Vietnam earned US$866 million from fishery exports in September. Shrimp is the top revenue generator, with a 10.5% increase year-on-year, despite competition in the frozen shrimp market. Processed shrimp exports saw a nearly 10% growth, and tra fish exports increased by 8%, with processed products surging 42%. Tuna exports experienced a 16% rise, although there are raw material shortages. Crab exports have seen significant growth, with a 56% increase in the third quarter and 66% over nine months, primarily driven by demand from China. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) predicts that the total export value of fishery products will reach $9.5 billion in 2024, a 7% increase from 2023.
