A new partnership between World Coffee Research and the Western Highlands Forestry Science Institute aims to develop improved robusta coffee varieties to ensure sustainable coffee exports from Vietnam. The collaboration will help Vietnamese farmers improve coffee productivity, quality, climate resilience, and pest and disease resistance. The partnership is supported by over 190 coffee companies worldwide and will provide access to new genetic material, training in modern breeding methods, and low-cost tools to deliver better varieties to farmers faster. The top performing varieties will be included in national variety trials and released for commercial use.
