Vietnam has seen a steady increase in the export of fresh dragon fruits to Australia and New Zealand since 2017, with the export value to Australia rising by 36% in 2020 and 14% in 2021. The fruit is sold through Overseas Vietnamese distribution systems and major retail supermarkets in Australia. New Zealand is one of the three countries that import Vietnamese dragon fruit, making it the country's most successful export fruit with consistent growth since 2014. Post-COVID-19, demand for dragon fruit in New Zealand has surged, and MG Marketing of New Zealand has urged Vietnamese exporters to meet quality standards. Vietnamese export businesses are advised to adhere to regulations on origin, phytosanitary, and quality certificates when shipping to Australia and New Zealand.
