Vietnam imported approximately 1.9 million tons of cashew materials from various countries at an average price of $1,400 per ton, spending around $2.66 billion. The country's cashew nut export turnover was estimated at $3.05 billion with a volume of 514,699 tons, marking a 12.6% decrease in volume and a 16% decrease in value compared to the previous year. The cashew growing area in Vietnam is roughly 300,000 hectares, supplying about 30% of the processing needs, with the rest being imported. The Vietnam Cashew Association is proposing stable and long-term planning for cashew growing areas and has suggested collaborating with Cambodia and Southern Laos for cashew material development due to a decrease in supply.
