Vietnamese catfish makes the top 3 best-selling white meat fish in the U.S.

The U.S. is currently one of the largest markets for white fish consumption in the world and is experiencing strong growth. Information from the International Trade Center (ITC) shows that in the first seven months of this year, U.S. imports of white fish reached a value of over 1.1 billion USD, an increase of 42% compared to the same period last year. Among the white fish species consumed in the U.S., the three most imported are tilapia, cod, and catfish. In the first seven months of this year, the import value of frozen catfish fillets into the U.S. reached nearly 230 million USD, ranking third after frozen tilapia fillets (262 million USD) and frozen cod fillets (over 260 million USD). Vietnam is currently the largest supplier of frozen catfish fillets to the U.S. and occupies almost the entire market.
