Vietnamese clam exports to the EU have experienced a 19% increase in value in the April and May of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. The total export value for the first five months of 2024 was 26 million USD, which is 25% less than the same period in 2022. Steamed frozen clams make up 69% of the export value. Spain, Italy, and Portugal are the primary importers, accounting for 90% of the total export value. Despite a decrease in exports to Portugal, Spain has seen a 29% increase in clam imports in the first five months of 2024. Over 20 enterprises are involved in clam exports to the EU, with HASUVIMEX, Lenger Seafoods Vietnam, and Minh Dang Co., Ltd being the largest exporters. The demand for mollusks in the EU market is showing signs of recovery following inflation.
