Vietnam has started exporting fresh coconuts to China, marking the first time since China opened its market to Vietnamese coconuts in August last year. Two shipments, totaling 44 tons, were sent through Hekou Port in Yunnan and Youyiguan Port in Guangxi. Despite challenges like tight supply and strict quality standards, Vietnamese companies are preparing for increased exports by securing necessary certifications. The appeal of Vietnamese coconuts, known for their sweetness and long shelf life, has also attracted interest from the EU, the US, Canada, and South Korea. Coconut exports are a significant part of Vietnam's fruit export sector, ranking sixth, and are expected to grow as trade with China expands.
