Vietnam's leading durian-growing region, Dak Lak, is preparing for increased exports to China following a new protocol on frozen durian exports. This could significantly boost revenue, providing economic benefits and promoting sustainable agriculture. However, the process requires strict adherence to export criteria, including sourcing from registered orchards and meeting food safety and phytosanitary standards. The lack of freezing technology is currently a challenge, though proximity to the Chinese market mitigates transportation costs. Both countries are actively working to ensure smooth implementation of the protocol and to support businesses and farmers in maximizing opportunities.
