Vietnamese white fish products have been exported to nearly 140 countries and regions around the world

Cod is considered the "king" of fish. According to the International Trade Center (ITC), in the first half of this year, China imported nearly $296 million of frozen cod with HS code 030363 from around the world, a 10% decrease compared with the same period in 2023. 2022 was the year with the most frozen cod imported by China, exceeding $732 million, a 49% increase from 2021. Cod is second only to pollock in popularity in China and is the most consumed white fish in the United States, especially frozen cod fillets with commodity code 030471. In 2023, the United States imported $475 million of whitefish, down 22% year-on-year, accounting for 27% of the total whitefish imported by the United States from the world. In 2022, the country consumed nearly $610 million of cod fillets, up 47% from 2021, the year with the most imports of the product so far. Pollock is the best substitute for cod.
