Vietnam has experienced a significant surge in canned tuna exports in the first four months of 2024, with a 51% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth is attributed to consumer demand for affordable products during a period of high inflation and interest rates. Vietnam exports to over 65 markets, with the United States, the European Union, and Israel being the primary importers. Exports to the EU, particularly to Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands, have benefited from the EU-Vietnam Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and its preferential tariffs. The exports are facilitated by more than 140 Vietnamese companies, with the top five being Vietnam Tuna, Mariso Vietnam, Yueh Chyang Canned Food, AHFISHCO, and Highland Dragon.
