Vietnam's cassava exports increased by nearly 400% in early 2024

According to preliminary statistics from the General Administration of Vietnam Customs, cassava export growth hit a new record in January 2024. Specifically, in January this year, cassava export volume reached 76,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 369.6% and a year-on-year increase of 30.9%; the export volume exceeded US$19.9 million, an increase of 340.8% month-on-month and 36.4% year-on-year, making cassava the strongest growing product in January 2024. ​ The average export price of cassava was US$262 per ton, a month-on-month decrease of US$15. The cumulative export earnings of cassava and cassava products exceeded US$195 million, a month-on-month increase of 38.1%. ​ China continues to maintain Vietnam's status as the largest cassava importer. In January 2024, Vietnam exported 40.19 tons of cassava to China, earning more than 18,300 US dollars in foreign exchange.
