Despite this decline, the first nine months of 2024 saw a total export of 9,274 tons, with a turnover of 22.2 million USD, marking a 5.3% increase in volume and a 31.8% rise in turnover compared to the same period in 2023. The primary export markets are Laos and China, which account for 43% and 33% of the market share, respectively. Vietnam is a major global chili producer, with significant cultivation in Dong Thap and Lang Son provinces, and its chili is particularly popular in China for its spiciness and variety. In 2023, chili exports reached 20 million USD, a 107% increase from 2022.
