Vietnam is planning to increase the production of coconuts to meet the demand from China and the US, which have large populations and high consumption of coconut products. The country aims to have over 30% of its coconut planting area meet GAP standards by 2030 and expects to export fresh coconuts to China, potentially reaching an value of $250 million in 2024. The US imports a significant amount of coconuts from Vietnam, increasing its market share in the country. Logistics companies are playing a key role in exporting Vietnamese coconut products to these markets, and Ben Tre Province, the largest coconut planting area in the country, is focusing on organic coconut planting and value chain cooperation with large enterprises for processing and exporting organic coconut products.
