Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports have experienced a significant surge in the first quarter of the year, with a 32% increase in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.8 billion USD. This growth is primarily driven by the Chinese market, contributing 42% to the total export value. The country is also looking to expand its export markets to the United States, Thailand, and Korea. However, the industry faces challenges in quality and the need to move towards value-added products through deep processing. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association emphasizes the importance of maintaining quality to sustain in the global market. Meanwhile, the export of durian fruit is anticipated to grow due to expanded planting areas and improved packaging facilities.
