Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are expected to continue their strong growth through the rest of the year, with the sector on track to reach its goal of 7 billion USD in export revenue. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported a 30% year-on-year increase in export turnover between January and August, with significant opportunities in the Chinese market due to two recent protocols with China regarding plant quarantine and food safety for durians and coconuts. Vietnam is also expanding its reach into other markets such as the US, the Republic of Korea, and ASEAN countries. However, the industry faces challenges in improving product quality, especially in regards to pesticide residues and heavy metal contamination.
