Vietnam is experiencing a significant decrease in mangosteen production, with prices dropping by half compared to three months ago due to poor harvests and increased importation of Thai mangosteens. The price drop is especially severe in Binh Duong Province, where production reductions have reached 60%. The quality of Vietnamese mangosteens has been affected by hot weather and a lack of irrigation, making them less competitive in price and quality against Thai mangosteens. As a result, the retail price of Vietnamese mangosteens is about half the price of Thai mangosteens in Ho Chi Minh City's wholesale markets.
