In the first 10 months of 2022, Vietnam experienced a slight decrease in meat imports in volume but an increase in value compared to the same period in 2021, totaling 544.97 thousand tons and worth 1.21 billion USD. India emerged as the largest supplier, with a 114.1% increase in volume and 208.9% increase in value compared to October 2021, contributing to 20.4% of Vietnam's total meat imports for the month. Despite the anticipated rise in demand due to the Lunar New Year, Vietnam's domestic meat supply is expected to remain sufficient to meet domestic needs, indicating that meat imports may not significantly increase in the short term. The report also highlights a decline in pork imports, with a 5.6% decrease in volume and a 22.4% decrease in value in October 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.
