In 2024, Vietnam's scallop exports experienced remarkable growth, becoming the third largest mollusk export product after clams and snails, with exports exceeding $8 million in October alone, a 1700% increase from the previous year. From January to October, scallop exports totaled over $31 million, marking a 206% increase year-on-year. These scallops are exported to more than 20 markets, with the United States, Denmark, and Japan being the primary importers. Exports to the United States have seen significant growth, particularly in 2024, and Japan's import of Vietnamese scallops has also increased due to diversification following water pollution from China. Vietnam's scallop exports to Denmark, however, are declining. Despite this, the overall growth trend for Vietnam's scallop exports is expected to continue.
