In the first half of 2024, Vietnam's aquatic product exports experienced a significant surge, reaching the highest level since the beginning of the year and marking the highest increase intra-year for most major commodities. The export volumes of tra fish, tuna, and crab saw notable increases of 22%, 40%, and 59% respectively, while shrimp products experienced a marginal increase of 7%. The export value of shrimp surpassed $1.6 billion, growing by over 7% year-on-year, and lobster exports saw a remarkable increase of 56 times, exceeding $130 million. Tuna exports, particularly canned tuna, also experienced strong growth, with a nearly 25% increase in the first half of 2024. Europe emerged as the region with the most significant growth in exports in June, with a 40% increase, contributing to a 12% year-on-year rise in Vietnam's seafood exports to EU countries. The exports to the United States and China also saw substantial increases of 14% and 18% respectively. With a stable and accelerated growth expected in the latter half of 2024, Vietnam's seafood export market is on track to reach over $10 billion annually.
