Vietnam's shrimp industry charts its own course amid global competition

A representative of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said Ecuador has significantly increased its shrimp production, reaching an impressive 2.5 million tons. It is noteworthy that the Department of Science and Technology of the southernmost province of Ca Mau, together with the Aquaculture Research Institute No. 2, successfully tested the shrimp farming model for the first time in Kainuok and Damzoi counties. This innovative, ultra-intensive three-stage whiteleg shrimp farming model is based on recirculating aquaculture technology to minimize water exchange and ensure biosecurity. It has reduced the cost of chemical treatments, labor and water replacement in shrimp ponds, increasing production by more than 20% compared to traditional methods.
