Vietnam has taken the lead in sugar production in the region, as reported by the Vietnam Sugar Cane and Sugar Producers Association (VSSA). This achievement is credited to the promotion of mechanization and the use of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in agriculture, along with trade protection measures. In the MY 2023/24 season, Vietnam's sugar yield reached 6.79 t/ha, surpassing that of Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The sugar industry has seen consistent growth for the past four years, with sugarcane production up by 166% and sugar production by 161%.
