Vietnamese tra fish exports have experienced a resurgence, with a 2% increase in revenue year-on-year, totaling approximately 725 million USD during the first five months of 2024, as reported by the Vietnam Customs Department. The United States continues to be the largest market, followed by China, Europe, and South American countries. Despite a 7% drop in exports to Europe, reaching 70 million USD, there is positive growth in several European markets. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) anticipates a 10% growth in exports in Q3, attributed to decreases in fuel and logistics costs, and interest rates. The recognition of Vietnam as a market economy by the US could further boost the sector, but Vietnamese firms need to adhere to EU environmental standards to increase market access.
