A delegation from the International Olive Council (IOC), led by executive director Jaime Lillo, recently visited Brazil to explore the potential of the country's olive growing industry. The visits included assessing the quality of olive oils produced in Rio Grande do Sul and strengthening relations with the Brazilian olive sector. Lillo expressed admiration for the quality of Brazilian olive oils and highlighted the country's potential in the sector. The inclusion of Brazil in the IOC is a long-standing demand of producers and the federal government, with meetings in Brasília scheduled to further discuss Brazil's interest in becoming a member. The Ministry of Agriculture also emphasized its commitment to regulating the sector and enhancing the quality control of Brazilian olive oils.
