Ukraine: Our task is to build relations with the EU without quotas - Vitaly Koval

The Ukrainian agricultural sector is being positioned as the agricultural hub of Europe by the newly appointed Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaly Koval, to strengthen the EU's food security and elevate Europe's standing as a global agricultural power. Koval made this known during meetings with European agricultural ministers, emphasizing the need for international cooperation and combating Russian propaganda. He highlighted Ukraine's contribution to the EU's agricultural market, particularly in corn export, and debunked the notion of Ukrainian agribusiness being controlled by agro-oligarchs. Koval stressed the importance of integrating Ukraine's agricultural ecosystem into the European market to bolster its position globally. The minister pointed out key agricultural products that Ukraine can replace in the European market, including soybeans, rapeseed, and wheat, to reduce reliance on competitors like Russia. This strategy aims to enhance the competitiveness of European and Ukrainian farmers by replacing imported products that the EU does not produce in sufficient quantities, thereby strengthening the EU's agricultural sector.
