Volume and value of Chilean fresh blueberry exports contract in 2023

From January to December 2023, Chilean fresh blueberry exports totaled 145,728 tons for USD 534 million, a performance that reflected a contraction of -19% in volume and -25% in value compared to what happened in 2022, as reported FreshFruit. In this regard, the company specialized in commercial intelligence for the agro-export sector indicated that “2023 was not a good year for fresh blueberries, both for Peru and for its main competitor: Chile. “Both have estimated that their 2023/2024 campaigns will be reduced at the end of each season.” The entity, specialized in the Peruvian fruit and vegetable sector, explained that shipments of fresh Chilean blueberries experienced a lower year than the previous one, especially in the month of March, in which Chile did not exceed 10,000 tons exported, with a value mobilized abroad of USD 35 million. “This represented a 66% drop in volume and 81% in value compared to the same month in 2022.
