The 14th Sea Afforestation Day commemorative event in 2026 will be held in Wando County, Jeollanam-do. Wando County hosted the 2nd Sea Afforestation Day commemorative event in 2014 and will now host the event again after 12 years. Since 2024, Wando County has been collaborating with the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency South Sea Office, Hyosung Group, and others to create a 1.59㎢ composite seaweed forest in the waters of Sinji-myeon. This year, in collaboration with the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency South Sea Office and Korea Electric Power Corporation, activities such as seaweed transplantation and coastal cleanup are being carried out in the waters of Jangjwa-ri, Wando-eup, as part of efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.
