Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said this Tuesday, 1st at the launch ceremony for the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan, that the government is reducing the tax burden on Brazilian exports through the Value-Added Tax (VAT), provided for in the tax reform. He pointed out that the international market is "very protectionist" and tends to become even more so. "We have to protect ourselves," he said in a speech at the Planalto Palace. He added that the sanitary issue is one element, but the ecological dimension is another very important aspect to assert Brazil's competitiveness. "We are removing the tax burden from our exports through the introduction of the Value-Added Tax. Little is said about this, but it may be the most dramatic change our tax system will experience," the minister stated.
