Over the past month, certain dairy products in Ukraine have become cheaper amid weak domestic demand for whole milk products, an increase in cheese imports, and the suspension of dairy exports to the EU, reports analyst of the Milk Producers Association, Georgiy Kukhaleishvili.
According to the monitoring, prices have decreased for milk in film, kefir in bottles and glass, sour cream in cups, drinking and spoon yogurts, as well as a number of hard cheeses, including "Ukrainian", "Gouda", "Mozzarella", "Suluguni", and "Feta". At the same time, the cost of "Lyustdorf" butter has remained unchanged.
The analyst notes that increased competition from imports, which already occupy about half of the Ukrainian cheese market, as well as uncertainty with new export quotas to the EU, are creating additional pressure on domestic producers. If weak demand persists, the surplus of dairy products is expected to continue affecting prices in Ukraine.
