Heavy rainfall in Moldova is expected to expedite the walnut harvest and improve the quality of the 2024 crop, according to Oleg Tyrsina, Chairman of the Association of Walnut Growers of Moldova ANRM. Wet weather conditions are crucial for the timely cracking of the green pericarp and easy fall of the fruits, reducing the risk of mold and the need for post-harvest processing. The early walnut varieties, such as Peschansky, are expected to start mass harvesting next week.
