Agro-industrial chains account for around 20% of the gross national value added In the year 2024, agro-industrial chains represented 1.8 pesos out of every 10 pesos of the national Gross Value Added (GVA), which means a participation of 18%. This marks a rebound after the failed year 2023, which, due to the historic drought, left the agricultural participation at a minimum of the series since 2004, with a share of 16%. From a historical perspective, agro-industrial chains show significant development in the generation of annual GVA between 2004 and 2011, with growth for those years of 33.15% at the extremes. Beyond this good performance, the economy as a whole grows by 46.7% in that period, which leads to a decrease in the participation of agro chains in the total GVA. In specific terms, the share decreases from 20.4% to 19.1% between those years, considering that the peak of participation is reached in 2005 with 21.4%.
