The price of grapes has risen on average from November to December by 32% and the largest increases have been at Eroski (83%), Lidl (50%), and Aldi (40%), according to a monitoring carried out by Facua in five major supermarket chains on the price of seedless white grapes. The largest increase has been at Eroski, where the bucket of seedless white grapes (500 grams) has gone from 1.50 euros in November to 2.75 euros at the end of December (an 83.3% increase). As Facua has informed in a statement, Lidl has disguised its increase through re-inflation, reducing the weight of its tray of seedless white grapes from 750 to 500 grams, which is sold at the same price (1.99 euros). For its part, at Aldi, the largest increase has been in the tray of seedless red table grapes (500 grams), which has gone in the same period from 1.99 to 2.79 euros (a 40.2% increase).
