Smaller plum harvests in Poland are not paying back fruit growers due to Moldovan products

Importers and wholesalers are “rubbing their hands” at the thought of plums from Moldova. Unfortunately, smaller harvests in Poland are not yet reciprocated by fruit growers with higher prices due to the market saturation with plums from the south. Currently, varieties such as President, Haganta, TopHit and Węgierka Zwykła are being harvested. Although prices on wholesale markets are slightly better than in July, despite the lower harvest, we are not seeing a significant revival in trade. The smaller supply of domestic fruit is effectively supplemented by imports. Some might say that it is even being pushed out… primarily in supermarkets. In producer groups, the purchase price of PLN 3.00/kg remains the same. On wholesale markets, high-quality fruit can be sold for PLN 4.00/kg.
