Greek farmer Michalis Avdanas produces 76 tons of organic sheep milk annually, with each Chios breed sheep yielding an average of 460 liters per year. Organic milk is priced slightly higher at 1.57 euros per liter compared to conventional milk at 1.50 euros per liter. Michalis left a cooperative due to pricing disputes and now focuses on raw milk production. He also sells wool at €0.10/kg, lamb at €8.50/kg, and mutton at a lower price. Health issues like brucellosis and mastitis have been mitigated through vaccination programs.
