South Korea: Changes in cultivation areas for kiwi, warm-season garlic, and summer cabbage

Following last year's prediction of changes in future cultivation areas for major fruits, the Rural Development Administration (Director Jae-ho Cho) has now published predictions of changes in cultivation areas for kiwi, warm-season garlic, and summer cabbage. Kiwi is an item that urgently needs to increase the market share of domestic varieties in response to the problem of usage fees for varieties exported overseas. Warm-season garlic and summer cabbage, the main ingredients of kimchi, are important items to secure a stable supply and demand base in response to climate change. As a result of the research team's prediction of the total cultivation area in 10-year increments until 2100, it was analyzed that the cultivation area for kiwi and warm-season garlic would expand, while summer cabbage would decrease.
