Wheat prices in the European Union, particularly in countries bordering the Black Sea, are lower due to a rich harvest in the region. The main wheat from Romania and Bulgaria is priced lower than that from France and Russia, with Russia's harvest expected to be over 10% lower due to cold weather and France's farmers facing heavy rains. Meanwhile, Romania anticipates a record harvest of 10.5 million tons for 2024-2025, and Bulgaria expects a harvest of about 6 million tons. Egypt's state buyer has recently purchased Romanian and Bulgarian cargoes, making them a competitive export source. The price of wheat in the Black Sea region is around $220-225 per ton, compared to $245 per ton for French wheat and $248 per ton for Russian wheat.
