Wheat harvest progresses with low profitability

According to the Economic Bulletin released by Emater/RS-Ascar on Thursday (4), the wheat harvest in Rio Grande do Sul is in its final phase, reaching "93% of the projected area." The areas not yet harvested are concentrated in higher altitude regions of the North Plateau and the Southeast Mountains. Emater highlights that the absence of significant rainfall since mid-November "has accelerated the maturation process and quickly reduced the moisture of the grains," allowing continuous progress of the harvest operations. Productivity remains heterogeneous, reflecting the differences in management and the microclimatic conditions observed throughout the cycle. In the higher areas of the Campos de Cima da Serra, there are still crops to be harvested, with "expressive productive potential."
