Ukraine has seen a rise in apple exports since 2017, with the most popular varieties being Gala, Golden, Red Delicious, Fuji, and Granny Smith. The industry has faced logistical challenges, including a significant one when exporting to the United Arab Emirates by sea. In 2024, the industry was hit by a smaller harvest and increased costs, leading to a surge in apple prices. Despite these challenges, the market remains overheated with high demand and prices, particularly for export-quality apples. Vladimir Gurzhiy, the head of USPA Fruit, recommends planting orchards with export-oriented apple varieties, such as Gala, Golden, Red Delicious, Fuji, and Granny Smith, and suggests selling throughout the season to build a strong market presence.
