Hungary: Poultry meat is cheaper compared to last year

In an annual comparison, the producer price of Hungarian slaughter pigs was more than 10 percent lower, costing HUF 836-837 per kilogram in July. The processing sales and retail purchase prices for the majority of raw pork were also more moderate than in mid-July last year. The producer price of slaughter pigs from domestic production has been below the 2023 level for the whole year so far, and although it is slightly higher than in 2022, the difference has been reduced to a minimum compared to the previous month. According to the AKI's data, the producer price of poultry lags even more than a year earlier. Broiler chicken was almost 18 percent cheaper than last year, with a price of around HUF 413 per kilogram. The price of slaughter turkey decreased by about 15 percent, so it was close to HUF 592.
