Wholesale pork prices continue to decline

The wholesale cost of pork half-carcasses decreased by 10% compared to the previous year for the week of November 24-30 and amounted to 180 rubles/kg, writes "Kommersant" citing monitoring by the analytical company NTech. The cost of commodity pigs decreased by 14% (119 rubles/kg) year-over-year, pork loin became cheaper by 27% (230 rubles/kg), pork neck by 24% (340 rubles), pork shoulder blade by 7% (255 rubles), pork ham by 4% (265 rubles). Only pork ribeye showed an increase in price—by 14% to 335 rubles/kg. The trend of decreasing prices for most pork items began to form in October. The general director of the National Union of Pig Breeders, Yuri Kovalev, told "Kommersant" that the demand for pork is decreasing due to a change in consumer behavior.
