Sugar consumption per capita in the region increased by 3% by the end of last year compared to 2023. Rosstat published data on the consumption of basic food products by the population of the Russian Federation in 2024. Kurgan Oblast demonstrated the minimum level of sugar consumption (including confectionery products converted to it) among the subjects of the Ural Federal District—34 kg per capita per year. This indicator is 5.6% lower than the average for the Urals (36 kg) and 12.8% lower than the national average (39 kg). In the Urals, the highest annual per capita sugar consumption was in Tyumen Oblast—38 kg. Slightly less in Sverdlovsk Oblast—36 kg, even less in Chelyabinsk Oblast—35 kg. At the same time, there was a significant difference in sugar consumption between regions of the Russian Federation.
