Winter cereals in the Kyiv region have not yet entered a state of dormancy — the cessation of autumn vegetation has not occurred.

Due to the decrease in average daily temperatures below +5°C at the beginning of December, winter crops are experiencing a slowdown in growth processes. However, during the daytime, winter crops are slowly vegetating. This is reported by the NAAN based on data from scientists at the Institute of Agriculture. It is noted that the sum of effective temperatures above +5°C from the date of emergence was 131°C, active temperatures were 346°C, while the effective temperatures necessary for successful overwintering are 200-225°C. The average air temperature in the region of the institute's activity from November 26 to December 2 was +5.3°C, with the norm for the third decade of November being +0.3°C. The maximum air temperature rose to +11°C, while the minimum temperature dropped to +1.3°C.
