The EC eases reporting on harmful emissions from farmers

On December 10, the European Commission (EC) presented a package of measures to simplify environmental legislation in the areas of industrial emissions, the circular economy, environmental assessments, and geospatial data, according to the EC's press center. The changes will reduce administrative burdens for businesses and maintain the EU's ambitious environmental goals, according to the rationale. It is expected that with this proposal, businesses will save approximately one billion euros annually, with the EC estimating that, along with the administrative changes, almost 11 billion euros will be saved annually. This brings the EC closer to the overall goal of 37.5 billion euros in annual administrative cost savings by the end of the current commission's term in 2029.
