Winter grain production again below 200 thousand tons

According to the Monthly Bulletin of Agriculture and Fisheries of the National Statistics Institute (INE), the harvest of pragano cereal areas has not yet ended in all regions. Despite the meteorological conditions during the grain filling phase, such as high temperatures and punctual precipitation, were favorable for the vegetative development of winter cereals, there was great variability in the yields obtained. Yields were irregular, especially in Baixo Alentejo, which, combined with the decrease in installed area (except rye), contributed to a decrease in cereal production. Thus, production decreases are expected in common wheat and oats (-10%) and in durum wheat and triticale (-5%).
