A collaboration between Ecowian Magyarország Kft. and the Biotechnology Research Institute of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences has led to the development of a natural solution, HYGIENE + 99, to combat the brown wrinkle virus (ToBRFV) threatening tomato and pepper cultivation. Based on hypochlorous acid, a substance found in human white blood cells, this solution is ecofriendly, non-toxic, and effective against a wide spectrum of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and spores. It offers a fast, resistant-free disinfection method with no ecological imprint and is currently being tested in Hungary and Austria. This innovation is set to revolutionize the agricultural sector by combating a virus that has been causing significant crop losses in Europe since 2018.
