Greece: With quality, we can compete with the cheapest kiwis in the Indian market

By a decision of the Ministry of Agriculture of India published in the Government Gazette, the import of kiwifruit from Iran to India was banned, effective from January 1, 2022. It is known that due to this ban in the period 2022/2023 (1/10/22-30/9/2023) Greek kiwifruit exports increased from 1,631 tons in the period 2021/2022 to 19,678 in the period 2022/2023 (until 30/ 6) to India taking advantage of the absence of Iranian kiwifruit and the competitiveness of their selling prices against their other suppliers. It is noted that in India, kiwifruit is one of the three main fruits that the country imports. However, the popularity of kiwifruit has increased since it is considered one of the fruits that contains the most nutrients.
